Vegan Before and After: Ramien Lost 15 lbs and Improved his Recovery Time

In our vegan before and after series, we’ll talk about the transformations of Jacked Vegan clients who switched to veganism and the results they got with the help of the coaches and the programs in the Jacked Vegan Academy

In today’s series, we have Ramien Pierre, who went from pescatarian to vegan, and got a KICK ASS transformation, check his story:

What do you do for a living?

I’m a contŕactor assigned to work at NASA. I administer training for the engineers and systems engineers at NASA centers. It’s pretty much writing reports, reviewing courses and evaluating courses, it’s a lot of paperwork.”

How old are you?

“I turned 50 in September 2020.”

How long do you work?

“A little too much I guess. Probably about 10 hours on the average, most of it spent sitting at the desk. I have a full time job at NASA so I work 9 am to 5 pm there, and then in some semesters I’m teaching from 5pm to 9pm.

I work for 12 hours maybe one or two days a week.”

What were you struggling with before?

“I struggled to find what was reasonable advice to follow, because when you search for “vegan” there’s a thousand things that come up and I don’t know who to listen to. There’s so much information on the internet.

I didn’t have a natural support group for vegans. I wanted some sort of community because I knew I wasn’t going to do it on my own. Having a group of people I could talk to, ask questions, and those who are in the same boat as I am, that was something that I wanted.

But most of all, it was finding good information.”

What made you realize that you couldn’t do things on yourself?

“I have been more mindful with what I eat since I saw the documentary Forks Over Knives but I just couldn’t change the way I eat. I was struggling to transition into being a vegan.

I never did meal planning. I sort of grew up eating what I wanted, when I wanted. I didn’t plan what to eat for a whole week, not even for a whole day.

I didn’t have the structure to get me started. I was a pescatarian one year before I switched to veganism and that was as far as I could get. I knew that I could get something to eat if I go out.

I just couldn’t figure out how to make all the cylinders to fire so I could get the results I was looking for.

Having coaches to tell you what to do is crucial. Big things are hard to accomplish on your own. A lot of successful people, famous people, MMA fighters, NBA players, football players all have coaches that tell them what to do and correct them along the way.”

What happened since You JOINED Jacked Vegans?

“I lost 15 lbs easily and I’m in the program for four or five months now.

I also started developing a different relationship with food.  Before, I would snack on chips or crackers when I was stressed, now, I’m more mindful with what I eat. I realized if I chewed on a good crunchy apple instead, I could get the same effect minus the extra calories.

I noticed that my recovery time was faster as well. Around four to five weeks after I switched to veganism, I noticed I was able to do more work in the gym and it was easier too.

Before, I had to take a nap after leg day to recover. Now, I don’t dread going to leg day because I know I can take it. I’m hitting new personal records too.”

How did you FEEL DURING YOUR KICKSTART COACHING CALL?

“I was nervous at first because I didn’t know what to expect.

But as the call went on, I realized it was okay to relax. It was a fun, back and forth conversation with instead of an interview which I thought I was going to.”

What’s your advice to others?

“You don’t have to do everything perfectly the first time.

At first, I was beating myself up because I couldn’t get all my calories, protein, do the morning routine, and do the walking all at once.

The coaches at Jacked Vegans helped focus by asking me “If there’s one thing you would like to get done today, what is it?”.

That helped focus on the most important thing that I wanted to get done every day. Then I started doing two important things everyday, then three. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to keep getting better.

Just trust the coaches, do the program, and you’re going to be alright.

The coaching and mindset call was pretty helpful as well.”

THE BOTTOM LINE?

As you can see, age doesn’t define the way you look and feel. And Ramien is a living example of that – at 50 years old he looks better than 90% of people half his age.
